The Short Grioghal

Ellie (Eleanor) Menzies is a young woman full of passion, who wears her heart on her sleeve: she loves her partner and she loves history. And sometimes those passions intertwine. Ellie is fascinated by the Short Grioghal, the Short MacGregor, a cateran who successfully raided Campbell territory to disappear without a trace after two seasons of cattle lifting. She is determined to find him and will not be discouraged, not even by her own Short MacGregor, DS - Shortie - MacGregor, whom Ellie leaves on a lazy Sunday morning to go on one of her investigations through history. She goes back to university and stumbles upon new facts that may finally reveal the identity of the mysterious Short Grioghal.

The very first novel ever I had printed (in true book form). Dealing with the fascinating subject of the cateran (those who "stole" entire herds of cattle, think Rob Roy) and set during the period when the name "MacGregor" was proscribed, it's love and history mixed.
